Hi! My name is Cecilia Barber, and I’m a second year student from South Riding, Virginia! I’m hoping to major in Global Sustainability with a minor in Spanish and Urban/Environmental Planning. Outside of class, I am involved with UVA’s Sustainability Advocates and like to spend my free time with my dog, Rosa.
This will be my first semester working with Green Dining, but also my first fall spent on grounds at UVA, since I spent my first semester abroad on the London First program. I’m super excited to be working in the President’s Box during football games this semester, especially because I’d never experienced a football game at UVA before. One of the things I’m most excited about this semester is the Green Game, because I really love the idea of seeing our community come together to divert as much waste from landfills as we can in a setting as fun and exciting as a Football Game!

Originally, I got involved with Green Dining because of my interest in plant-based food and food waste reduction, but I’m looking forward to working in a variety of areas of sustainability. I think this will be a really awesome opportunity to not only learn more about the different aspects of Green Dining, but also to get more involved with the UVA community and to share the exciting projects we work on here at Green Dining!
